Breaking: Chelsea Keeper Kepa to Reunite with Former Manager
Latest News and Updates
Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is reportedly set to reunite with his former manager Maurizio Sarri at Lazio.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, the two sides are in advanced talks over a loan move for the 28-year-old shot-stopper.
Sarri's History with Kepa
Sarri managed Kepa during his time at Chelsea from 2018 to 2019.
The Italian tactician was a big admirer of the Spaniard, who he signed for a then-world record fee for a goalkeeper of £71.6 million.
Kepa was Sarri's first-choice goalkeeper during the 2018/19 season, making 36 appearances in all competitions.
Kepa's Struggles at Chelsea
However, Kepa's form has declined in recent seasons, and he has lost his place in the Chelsea starting lineup to Edouard Mendy.
The Spaniard has made just four appearances for the Blues this season, and he is keen on a move away from Stamford Bridge in search of regular playing time.
Lazio are in need of a new goalkeeper after the departure of Thomas Strakosha, and Kepa would be a solid addition to their squad.
Potential Benefits for Kepa
If Kepa does make the move to Lazio, he will have the chance to work with Sarri again.
The Italian manager knows Kepa well and will be able to get the best out of him.
Kepa will also benefit from playing regularly, which will help him to regain his confidence and form.
